Home Buyer's Helpful Hints

Step 1:
Collect the necessary information needed to get pre-qualified or pre-approved to either purchase a new home or refinance your existing mortgage. (Click here for the information needed) Call and set up your appointment with an American Gateway Bank Mortgage Loan Officer.

Step 2:
Once it has been determined how much you can afford, it is a good idea to review all the different programs available to you(Click here for programs available) as well as all of the cost involved prior to making your final decision on buying, building, or even refinancing your home (Click here for some of the cost involved).

Step 3:
It is now time to move forward in the home buying, building or refinancing process. If you are buying a home, select a realtor to assist you. If you are building a home, select a builder to assist you unless you will be subcontracting it yourself. If you already own a home and are looking at refinancing, you can move on to Step 4.

Step 4:
Once you have selected the home that you would like to buy or build, you will need to again meet back with your Mortgage Loan Officer to complete the required documents, and pay for the appraisal fee and credit report if you have not already done so. At this appointment, you should be given a Good Faith and Truth-In-Lending based on the price of the home.

Step 5:
The appraisal is ordered with a state licensed appraiser. Once it is received back and all of the information that you furnished to your Mortgage Loan Officer is verified, your loan is signed off with the final approval. If you have not already done so, you will need to select a closing Attorney and Homeowners Insurance Company. This information will need to be provided to us prior to giving your loan to the closing desk.

Step 6:
Your loan package is prepared for closing; once your closing date is selected, your package is emailed to the closing Attorney. Once all of your final closing documents are signed, the package is recorded and returned back to the lender and the process is complete.
